According to NYC's Small Business Services agency, money spent fall into the following categories - construction, professional services, standard services and goods.

1. Professional Services

Last year, New York City had a total M/WBE spending of $138,580,358 for the Professional Services industry.

Examples of jobs falling under this industry are architecture, engineering, business consultancy, telecom maintenance and repairs, advertising, and social services.

 

2. Construction

Last year, New York City had a total M/WBE spending of $192,238,137 for the Construction industry.

Examples of jobs falling under this industry are construction of buildings, electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, and supplying construction materials.

Last year, New York City had a total M/WBE spending of $86,499,003 for the Standard Services industry.

Examples of jobs falling under this industry are janitorial and maintenance; security services; automotive equipment; messenger and delivery; transportation; and health care and pharmaceuticals.

 

4. Goods

Last year, New York City had a total M/WBE spending of $43,453,583 for the Goods industry.

Examples of jobs falling under this industry are equipment maintenance and repair; equipment rental, office equipment and supplies; apparel or clothing; and services and supplies.
